The Student Visa lets you study at a licensed UK institution. You need a CAS issued by the school, proof of sufficient funds and a minimum level of English. Its length follows the length of your course.
The CAS, your starting point
The Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is issued by your institution once your place is confirmed. It contains a unique number and the details of your tuition fees, paid or outstanding. Without it, no visa application is possible, and an error in the information it contains can block your application before you even have a chance to correct it.
Proof of funds: the leading cause of refusal
You need to show £1,529 a month for London (or £1,171 outside London) for up to 9 months, plus any remaining tuition fees shown on your CAS. But the amount is not the only difficulty : this sum must sit in your account for 28 consecutive days, never dropping below the threshold, and the closing date of that period must fall within the 31 days before your application. A transfer made at the wrong time, a balance that dips by one pound for a single day, and the 28 day count starts over. This is, by far, the most common reason for Student Visa refusals.
We lock down the 28 day timeline for you.
- We calculate the exact amount you need to show based on your CAS and your city.
- We plan the 28 day period so there is no room for a date error.
- We check every document before submission, for an application that gets accepted first time.
A health cost you should not forget
The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) comes on top of the visa cost : £776 a year for a student, paid upfront for the whole length of your stay. Many applicants underbudget for this and end up short when it is time to pay.
The Graduate Route countdown
After your studies, the Graduate Route currently lets you stay and work in the UK for 2 years (3 years for a PhD). From 1 January 2027, this drops to 18 months for bachelor's and master's graduates. If you submit your Student Visa application before 31 December 2026, you keep the full 2 year benefit. Your admission timeline therefore has a direct impact on your career after graduation.
What we do for you
We check that your CAS matches exactly the amount of funds you need to show, plan the 28 day timeline so there is no margin for error, and track your admission timeline to protect your post graduation rights. You do not need to watch a bank account day by day. It has been our job for 11 years.
